Alan Mance Obituary

Alan "Al" Mance 67, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Friday October 31st 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Willoughby Hills Ohio July 29th,1958 the 4th of 8 children to our loving parents Joseph Mance Sr. and Dorothy(Harcarik) Mance.

Alan became an Electrician right out of school but didn't stay in Ohio long before he moved to Arizona for a short time then to Florida. First to Holly Hill where his Florida "family" took shape. Referred to sometimes as "Big Al" or simply Al by his friends who loved him,  "He was a simple guy living a simple life!" The guys would show up to the Pub N Grub after work to hang out. Maybe grill a little food, drink a little beer and have simple conversation about Hot Rods, burnouts and Turkey Rod Run. They even started a club called The Holly Hill Hot Rods. .

Later he moved to Port Orange where he worked for Rich's Electric and added 2 more great friends to his growing family. Followed by Parson's Electric and yet another family addition. Al did a lot of horse trading with a lot of good people!!

Al loved the challenge of fixing things that were broken. He'd look it over, take it apart then put it back together in working condition no matter how long it took.. He didn't like throwing things away that still had some usefulness. Fishing and shooting guns with his buddies..especially his good buddy Budweiser was another couple of his favorite pastimes.

But the thing Al loved the most was hanging out with friends at the shops he called HOME especially when mom and dad were in town for a stay. That's really when our families became one because mom and dad loved and appreciated each and every one of them for always looking out for Al.

Alan made sure to come home and spend time with his first family spending whole summers sometimes! He still had great friends in Ohio too. Alan will be dearly missed by his entire family and the many people whose lives he touched. He might have been living a simple life but he was bigger than life in many ways!

Alan was preceded in death by mom and dad but is survived by:  Sister, Anna"Cookie" (Jon) Sakach, Brother, Joe Mance Jr, Brother Michael(Sonya) Mance, Sister, Lisa Fessler, Sister, Susie(Flake) Vannoy and twin sisters, Dorothy(Mike) Ramsey and Denise(Dominic) Coladangelo. 22 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews.. Many cousins and many Friends.

The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Gary and Patty Moore, Harry Parsons and Richie Metzler(his nephew) who went way above and beyond for Alan before and during his most trying times. A special Thank You also to the Halifax Hospice "NORTH TEAM" who are truly caring and wonderful women whose help and compassion got us through this very difficult time.
