In Loving Memory of Carol Drummond Hetznecker
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Carol Drummond
Hetznecker — a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and cherished friend.
While her absence leaves a profound void, her spirit and kindness will remain forever in
the hearts of those who knew her.
Carol was born in Dublin, Virginia on June 20, 1947 and passed in her home
surrounded by the love of her family on August 14, 2025.
Carol found joy in life’s special moments — whether cheering from the stands at the
races with her family or offering a listening ear and a warm embrace to anyone who
needed it. Her love for children was boundless, and she gave her time, her heart, and
her energy to nurturing young lives, both within her family and beyond.
To know Carol was to be touched by her gentle soul, her infectious smile, and her
unwavering compassion. Her presence made the world a little softer, a little kinder, and
a lot more loving.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Peters Grimm, and her brother
Robert “Bobby” Drummond, whose memories she held close throughout her life.
Though her loss here will be felt deeply, we find comfort in the thought of thier joyful
reunion in heaven.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Rainer Hetznecker, with whom she shared a
beautiful life built on love, understanding, and laughter. Her son, Rainey Hetznecker,
was the pride of her heart and she carried immense joy and pride in watching him grow
into the man he is today. Carol’s love multiplied tenfold with the arrival of her
grandchildren, Denica Hetznecker and Blaise Hetznecker, and her four great
grandchildren Dakota Bonney, Adaline Vail, Della Vail, and Knox Hetznecker, who
brought endless light and happiness to her world.
Carol grew up surrounded by the love of her two sisters, Virgina “Gabby” Webb and
Jean Martin. The three sisters shared many adventures and leaned on each other
during life's journey. That same love and support expanded to her nieces and nephews
Jerry Peters, Kim Meade, Debbie Peters, Bobbie “Angie” Drummond, Lori Peters
Grabham, and Dale Parker.
In honor of her life and her passion for helping children, the family kindly asks that in
lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital, an organization whose mission is close to Carol’s heart.
Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind —
one of unconditional love, fierce devotion, and quiet strength. Carol’s light will never
dim, and her memory will live on in every life she touched.
Rest in Peace, Carol. You are so deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A Celebration of Life Service for Carol Drummond Hetznecker will be held Saturday,
August 23rd at 1:00 PM at Pinello Funeral Home, 1036 Derbyshire Rd, Daytona Beach,
