DAVID ROLAND HAMBLEY
David Roland Hambley, 83, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 at
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. Born in Stevenson, Alabama on August 15,
1942 to George Richard and Imogene Parks Hambley, he graduated from
Stevenson High School and Auburn University. He met the love of his life,
Polly Forson, and they were married on November 24, 1966, on
Thanksgiving Day.
Survived by his wife Polly Forson Hambley, nephews: Shawn and Nick
Morrison, and first cousins: Debbie Hambley, Bruce Allison, Todd Parks,
Teresa Hambley Austin, Carole Hambley Williams, Marcus Parton, Aunt:
Polly Parks, and his beloved Tibetan Spaniels, Sydney and Aiden.
Predeceased by his parents and two siblings, Barbara Jean Hambley and
Sandra Gail Hambley Morrison, his grandparents: Zenas Edgar and
Lucinda Jane Bryant Hambley and Dwight Clemons “Pete” and Bessie
Anna Morris Parks, first cousins: Joy Peck Dickinson Hunger, and Jan
Allison McMillan, Becky Parton Twilley and Mike Parton, Uncles and Aunts:
Bill and Verna Hambley, Jack Parks, J.T. Parks, Earl and Juanita Allison,
Frank and Ruby Hambley Peck, and James and Una Rae Parton.
Roland utilized his Masters in Accounting degree at General Electric in
in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he met Polly. He worked on Apollo
Support Systems. He moved to New York to do corporate audits but his
love of the South brought them back to Atlanta, Ga., where he worked for
Lockheed. Then General Electric brought them to Greenville, S.C. where
he worked at the turbine plant. Roland later followed his interests and
created Hambley Builders and began his years as a contractor.
Roland got his pilots license in 1986 and truly loved flying. He purchased
several planes and inherited the Hambley mens’ fascination with all things
automobile. He had several favorite cars. He enjoyed tennis, bowling and
traveled to places from Tokyo, Japan to Las Vegas, Nevada , but was
always happiest at home with Polly in their mountain house in Lindell Falls,
N.C, and their lake house (with their canine pets).
Roland had a keen sense of humor, a great laugh, the Hambley constant
movement, a sparkle in his eye and a kind heart. He will always be
remembered.
