Born on October 25th, 1978, in his beloved hometown, Derrick's life was a testament to compassion, connection, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew him.
Derrick's journey through life was shaped by the loving embrace of his parents, James E. Holmes and Eva P. Walker, and the support of his extended family. Later, he made his way to San Antonio, Texas, where he continued to spread his kindness until returning to his roots in Florida in November of 2022.
Derrick's passions were as diverse as his life's journey. From playing basketball to passionately cheering for college and NFL football and NBA basketball, he reveled in the excitement of the game. Yet, it was his time spent with his children and family, sharing meals at various restaurants, and connecting with friends across social media that truly defined his joy.
