Donald Scott Craig

Donald Scott Craig, age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Port Orange, FL.

He was a beloved husband for 69 years and a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Donald was born on December 3, 1932, in Youngstown, OH, to Russell W. and Alice E. Craig. He grew up in Hubbard, OH, and attended Hubbard High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 as a signalman on the destroyer USS Stormes and traveled around the world proudly, achieving “shellback” status.

In 1955, he married Sally Ann Hillman of Greenville, PA, and together, they raised three sons: Douglas (wife Nell) of Charlotte, NC; David (wife Cheryl) of Port Orange, FL; and Donald (Buddy) (late wife Katherine) of Daytona Beach, FL.

Don and Sally also have five grandsons: Eric (wife Gina) of Charlotte, NC; Scott (wife Mandy) of Twinsburg, OH; John of Daytona Beach, FL; Bryan (wife Becky) of Port Orange, FL; and Danny of Daytona Beach, FL., as well as six great-grandchildren: Ian, Brayden, Austin, Bryson, Lana, and Brynleigh.

He also leaves behind nephews Jeff (Betsy), Tom (Erin), Bill (April), and nieces Susan and Lori (James).

He loved the ocean, fishing, golf, the Cleveland Browns, the Indians/Guardians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He most enjoyed the many friends that he made in his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by Sally, his parents, and his brothers Robert (Mary Jane) and Thomas (Sandra).

His life will be remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of Don and Sally’s lives together will be announced at a later date.
