Ellen Marie Vales

Ellen Vales, age 73, passed away April 8, 2021 from COVID related causes.

She was born in Galveston, TX, July 22, 1947 to Tifford and Mary Mae Vales.  Ellen married in 1966 to Leslie Peterson and had two children, son Daryn Peterson and daughter Dina Peterson.

Ellen was a soldier for the Lord, a prayer warrior and a strong woman of faith. She had an artistic spirit with many talents, a flare for interior decoration, creative in the kitchen and known to many as “Chef Ellen”. She achieved many culinary certifications and continued to educate herself in culinary arts, real estate and decorating.

Ellen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to all. She was the rock to her family, she always put others first, her spirit was full of joy and compassion for all people. She loved spending time with her dog, Ziggie. She loved to sing, laugh and be silly.

Ellen is preceded in death by her father Tifford Vales, mother Mary Mae DeRouseau Vales, her sister Sylvia Walker and sister-in-law Stephanie Thomas. She is survived by her ex-husband Leslie Peterson, son Daryn Peterson, daughter-in -law Julie Peterson, daughter Dina Peterson, grandchildren Delea, Savanna, Drew and Dayd Peterson, great granddaughter Jeweline, her sister Joyce Clayton, brother Ronald Vales, sister-in-law Gina Vales, brother-in-law Gregory Dawkins, sister-in-law Seeta Dawkins, cousin and best friends Yvonne Burton and Mary Ann Nichols, many cousins, several nieces and nephews and her dog Ziggie.

In honor of Ellen Marie Vales there will be a Memorial Service held on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 in celebration of her life at Calvary Christian Center Chapel, 1687 W. Granada Blvd, Ormond, FL 32174.
