Glenda Pifer Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glenda Louise (Hill) Pifer 64, on Sunday December 11, 2022. Glenda, a lifelong area resident, was born on New Year's Day 1958, in Daytona Beach, FL. She was raised by her grandmother—Daisy Moody. In her formative years, she attended Morning Star Baptist Church with many other neighborhood children who would become her lifelong friends. Quick to flash a beautiful smile, she loved life and was an eternal optimist. Glenda was a 1975 Mainland High School graduate, who was a cheerleader and Lady Buc dancer. Always with an eye for fashion, she was voted Best Dressed her senior year. She studied at Daytona State College, formerly DBCC, where she earned an AA and AS degree.  From 1981- 2019 she worked as a nurse—the only career she ever wanted and one that she loved wholeheartedly. Glenda never left the house without her uniform pressed, creased, and heavily starched. In the old days of nursing hats and white shoes, hers were crisp and always the brightest of white. Her last 20 years were spent at the Veterans' Clinic in Daytona Beach. She found immense joy in getting to know her patients and providing them with excellent care. In her few short years of retirement, she could be found outside most days gardening—tending to her potted plants and ornamental trees. Some of her happiest times were spent curating and caring for her plants. Glenda was a strong believer in God and life in the hereafter. She left behind many broken hearts; her friend and husband of 49 years, Dan Pifer (Daytona Beach), the love of her life and a devoted daughter, Danielle Pifer (Tampa), an uncle, John Bell (Ormond Beach), and a host of other family and friends. It was Glenda's wish to abstain from a memorial service and out of our love and respect for her, we will honor her decision.
