Robinson, John Harry, Daytona Beach Florida
John (Jack) Harry Robinson. Age 87 who’s birthday was on Dec 11th, went to be with the Lord to spend Christmas with his loving wife Barabara on Dec 14th 2024. John was the son of the late Harry J Robinson & Alyce Mc Meel Robinson. Mr Robinson was born and raised in Troy New York he attended St Paul’s Elementary School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1955. “Robbie” as he was known for as the Center Field Man on the Catholic Central High School Baseball Team helped to bring the Crusader’s through a winning 1955 season. Note his name “Jackie Robinson.” He is an avid Met’s Fan and when baseball was not in play he was an avid Jet’s Fan.
After graduation John went into US Navy. He was stationed in Annapolis MD 2ND Class Petty Officer as an Aerographer’s Mate from 1955-1959. After an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy in 1959 he went to worked for General Electric in Waterford New York as a Lab Supervisor from 1959-1998.
Mr. Robinson was a life long member of the Elks Club in Troy New York. He was also an avid Camper from Fish Creek, New York to camping in the Adirondacks and up and down the east coast and in Lake George as a snow bird. He and his wife eventually retired in 1998 to New Smyrna Beach Florida. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach FL. and a past member of Sacred Heart Church in Troy New York.
Survivors include his beloved daughters Deborah (Tony) Stamper of Daytona Beach FL. & Cynthia (Steve) Nielsen of Glenville NY. 10 Cherished Grandchildren Jackelyn (David) Murray, Nicholas (Brittney) Murray of Daytona Beach FL, Sarah (Nick) Santinellio of Port Orange FL, Wade (Carla) Vandiver of Gaithersburg MD, Christy (Mark) Powers, of Colonie NY, Cheryl (Tony) Caiozzo of Latham NY, Senior Master Sargent Charles W (Jamie) Powers III of Arlington VA, Cindy (Matt) Biggerstaff of Latham NY, Ryan (Tara) Nielsen of Oxford FL & Jill (Chris) Marks of Glenville NY. He also has fourteen Great Grandsons & 4 Great Granddaughters. He also has his loving 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was predeceased other than his Parents by his Beloved Brother James and his Sister in Law Brenda Robinson. His Brother in Law Robert (Elizabeth) DelCogliano. Let’s not forget the friends from the 10th St Tigers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary’s Cemetery in Troy, NY at the convenience of the Family.
