Rebekah Joy Petrick was called home to heaven unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26, 2026, while driving home from church. She was 34 years old.
Rebekah was born on August 16, 1991, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Mike and Lori Petrick. She spent much of her childhood in Poulsbo, Washington, before her family entered full-time ministry in 2006. Over the next decade, Rebekah traveled across the country with her family, serving and encouraging churches and forming lasting friendships with people from coast to coast.
From 2011 to 2015, Rebekah attended Heartland Baptist Bible College, where she earned a degree in Christian Education. During her time there, she was deeply involved in choir and in her church’s Sunday School programs, while also working at Chick-fil-A—something that became a meaningful and lasting part of her life.
In the summer of 2015, following her graduation, Rebekah moved to Ormond Beach, Florida, where her family had settled. She quickly became an active member of Harbor Baptist Church and continued her work at Chick-fil-A in Ormond as the Marketing Director.
Rebekah had a deep love for music, playing the violin in church and especially cherished singing with her family, both during their years of travel and after settling in Florida. Her greatest joy, however, was teaching children about Jesus. Her Sunday School class was the highlight of her week, and she poured her heart into every child she taught.
Affectionately known as “Auntie Beka,” Rebekah embraced a role that reflected her love for children everywhere. Long before her own nieces were born, she had already earned that title in the hearts of countless kids whose lives she touched.
Rebekah also had a passion for missions. She traveled to various countries to support missionaries, often serving by ministering to children and assisting families on the field. She was eagerly anticipating a three-week mission trip to Kenya this summer with the LeTourneau family, with whom she had grown especially close in recent years.
Rebekah is survived by her father, Mike Petrick, his wife Christine; her brothers, Michael, Jordan, and Joshua; Sister-in-law Lynea, nieces Madelyn and Rosalie; and her grandmother, Ruby. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lori Petrick.
Rebekah’s life was marked by her love for the Lord, her servant’s heart, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Funeral Service will be held at Riverbend Community Church on Thursday, May 7th at 2:00PM.
