Matriarch Sharon A. Sager
On Jan 14, 1949, Sharon A. Cato was born to Maxine & Lee Samuel Dowdell in Daytona Beach, Florida.
She attended and graduated from Campbell High School in 1967. She continued her education in healthcare and received her nursing degree from Daytona Beach Community College. She married to Glen Sager (preceded her in death) the love of her life. She loved to travel out of the country. One of her most memorable trips was to Africa.
She was a nurse for 40+ years and spent many years caring for patients in ICU. Throughout the years, she served on various boards including the Nurses Association, where they honored her and presented her with the Pioneered award on September 9, 2017. She was loved by many and found to be nurturing, understanding, responsible, smart and extraordinary.
She was a faithful and well respected member of Mount Zion AME Church. She was the Board of Treasury and actively served as a stewardess of the church. She was loyal, always lending help to her family and friends.
On May, 24, 2021, our beloved Matriarch Sharon A. Sager transitioned on May 24, 2021 peacefully at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her brothers James Dowdell, Charles Dowdell, Samuel L. Dowdell Jr. and Timothy Dowdell. She is survived by her brothers Robert Cato (Michelle), Raymond Dowdell (Sandra “Gale”), Paul Dowdell, Andrew Dowdell (LeVerne) and sisters Essie Dowdell, Joyce Pelham and Christine Dowdell, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
